Astana, 18 October. A calculator for assessing family welfare has gone live in the eGov Mobile app: it shows the assessment criteria and a family's preliminary category, the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection said (Kursiv, Zakon.kz).

The methodology takes into account income, property and social circumstances such as family composition and the presence of children, elderly people and people with disabilities; in all it uses more than 59 indicators in six areas (Zakon.kz, Informburo). The calculation is based on data entered by the user and is for reference only: it does not mean that payments are granted or stopped (BES.media). Families will be assigned to one of five categories: A, B, C, D or E (BES.media).

This continues the story of the shift to targeted assistance: on 16 October the deputy labour minister said the calculator had passed technical testing and was ready to be placed online (Tengrinews).

Background: Certain state support measures will be granted according to welfare level from 1 January 2027 (Kursiv). Labour Minister Askarbek Yertayev earlier tested the calculator on the example of his own family (BES.media), and on 16 October the government said more than 200 benefit recipients had given up their payments after receiving text-message alerts (Kazakhstan Today).
