Astana, 19 October. Kazakhstan's industrial production index for January–September 2026 stood at 102.9%, meaning output grew by 2.9% on the same period last year; manufacturing and energy drove the growth while mining declined, the Bureau of National Statistics said (Dashimbayev).

The industrial production index shows how the physical volume of output has changed compared with the previous year, excluding price growth. Manufacturing grew by 8.6%, electricity, gas, steam and hot water supply by 12.4%, and water supply and waste treatment by 9.2%. Mining fell by 4.3% as crude oil production dropped to 91.7% and natural gas to 91.9% of last year's level (Dashimbayev).

In nine months, output worth 51,935 billion tenge was produced, with mining accounting for 46.9% and manufacturing for 46.5%. Within manufacturing, the fastest growth was in finished metal products (+34.8%), pharmaceuticals (+30.9%), chemicals (+23.4%) and machine building (+22.8%) (Dashimbayev).

Cars provided almost half of the growth in machine building: 136,500 passenger cars were produced in nine months against 98,900 a year earlier, an increase of 38%. Truck output fell by 5.3% and bus output by 0.9% (Tengenomika).

Background: Machine building produced output worth 4.2 trillion tenge, 8.1% of all industry and 17.5% of manufacturing; production of refrigeration and air-conditioning equipment rose 5.7-fold and of television sets 2.9-fold (Tengenomika).
