Astana, 22 October. During the Safe Home preventive operation, Astana police have started broadcasting announcements to residents and visitors from quadcopters: the drones remind people to obey the law, keep public order and follow the rules of behaviour in public places, the city police department said.
"Along with inspections, the police are using additional methods of preventive information. With the help of a drone, audio announcements have been organised for residents and guests of the capital. Citizens are reminded of the need to comply with the law, public order and rules of behaviour in public places, and not to allow actions that disturb the peace of others," the department's press service said.
The voice from the sky reminds residents, among other things, not to disturb the peace of others.
During the raid, police are checking residential buildings, rented flats, dormitories, hostels and hotels, paying particular attention to places where people on police registers live.
What it means: The capital's police have added an airborne loudspeaker to their door-to-door checks: while patrols inspect housing, a drone tells residents about the raid and reminds them of the rules.
Who benefits: The police, who can reach more people with one drone than with a patrol. The department did not say how often such announcements will be made or in which districts.
Background: Police in the regions are trying out other technical novelties: in Petropavlovsk, a robot dog with artificial intelligence currently works as a mobile loudspeaker warning about fraudsters.
