Astana, 22 October. More than 800 children and teenagers aged 8 to 18 train at an indoor football complex completed in Astana in May 2026: the covered pitch lets them practise year-round regardless of the weather, Kazinform reported.

The complex, almost 19,000 square metres in area, seats 3,600 spectators. Inside are an artificial pitch, stands, changing rooms and medical rooms. It was featured on the Elmen Birge programme on Jibek Joly's YouTube channel; the report does not give the complex's name or operator.

What it means: In the capital, with its long winters, children's football teams now have a place to train at any time of year.

Who benefits: Young footballers in Astana and their coaches; the city gains infrastructure for children's sport.

Background: On 22 October President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev said the country is investing in football infrastructure and, together with FIFA, building more than 100 children's football pitches in every region.
