Shymkent, 22 October. Shymkent is launching a free sports project, SHYMKENT PARK LEAGUE, in which 11 city parks will compete in sports challenges from 7 to 27 November: residents over 16 can train in the morning with instructors or on their own and record their results in the AI SPORT app.

Registration opens on 23 October in the AI SPORT app: participants choose one of the 11 parks and start completing tasks. Going to the park is optional — people can exercise anywhere and take part online, with results counted for their chosen park. The competition will last 21 days.

What it means: The city is offering residents a month of free training with a competitive element: you can support your park without leaving home.

Who benefits: Residents get free exercise; the akimat draws people into mass sport. The source does not say who developed the app or who is funding the project.

Background: Shymkent is also hosting the Kazakhstan figure skating championship these days, with 130 skaters competing.
