Astana, 24 October. President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev thanked NVIDIA founder and chief executive Jensen Huang for their meeting at Akorda and for discussing the development of artificial intelligence and its use in Kazakhstan's economy, above all in agriculture, and said his guest's ideas and recommendations were of "great practical value", the President wrote on X.
"I thank Jensen Huang for the productive meeting and the discussion at Akorda of developing artificial intelligence and its practical application in Kazakhstan's economy, especially in agriculture. Your ideas and recommendations are of great practical value to us," the President wrote.
Huang visited Kazakhstan on 22–23 October, his first trip to the country. At his meeting with the President he proposed making Kazakhstan a global hub for physical artificial intelligence, the kind of AI that controls robots and machines in the real world, and received the Order of Dostyk. In the same days NVIDIA and the TCV fund invested in the AI start-up Higgsfield, and inDrive announced that it was preparing a robotaxi service in Astana with China's Pony.ai and NVIDIA.
The mention of agriculture in the President's thanks is a new detail: earlier official statements about the meeting did not single out the sector. The statement does not say which recommendations Huang made or whether any agreements will be signed.
What it means: The President has publicly confirmed that his conversation with NVIDIA's chief was more than a formality: Akorda intends to apply Huang's recommendations, including in agriculture.
Who benefits: Kazakhstan gets a chance to use the experience of the largest maker of AI chips in its economy, including agriculture. NVIDIA gains a new market and partner in Central Asia. No specific agreements, amounts or deadlines have yet been named.
