Astana, 20 October. Since the start of 2026, 1,171 workers have been injured in workplace accidents in Kazakhstan, 282 of them in 81 group accidents, the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection said, citing data as of 1 October.
Employers are required to insure every employee against accidents. If there is no insurance contract, the company must itself cover the costs of treatment, rehabilitation and the injured worker's lost income. Employers without insurance must also pay special social benefits themselves to staff working in hazardous conditions.
A group accident is one in which two or more workers are injured at the same time; such cases are investigated separately because they more often point to systemic safety failures than to one person's mistake.
