Riyadh, 20 October. The Saudi-led coalition intercepted and destroyed a drone in the Riyadh region, the second attack on the Saudi capital on Tuesday after a Houthi ballistic missile was intercepted in the morning.
The coalition announced the interception on X without further details. It later said it had destroyed the launcher the Houthis used to fire the missile at Riyadh, without specifying its location. Both attacks come amid escalating hostilities between Saudi Arabia and Yemen's Houthis: the Houthis launch missile and drone attacks on the kingdom, while the coalition strikes their positions in Yemen from the air.
The Yemeni army, which fights the Houthis alongside the coalition, said it carried out 744 precision strikes against the Houthis in 24 hours.
Background: Earlier that day, a warning was issued and explosions were heard in Riyadh — the coalition then reported intercepting a ballistic missile.
