Astana, 22 October. Over the past three years about 7,000 minors have committed crimes, and every second one of these crimes was grave or especially grave, the Prosecutor General's Office said at a meeting on child safety and the prevention of juvenile crime.
About 2,500 teenagers have been convicted, and another 3,000 are on police preventive registers. Since the start of 2026 there have been more than 2,000 complaints about bullying. More than 800,000 children need help, in the supervisory body's estimate, counting repeat identifications.
Over ten months, according to the prosecutors, 19,000 raids were carried out, 4,000 teenagers were placed on preventive registers, 2,400 children were found in entertainment venues at night, and 304 cafés had their licences to sell alcohol withdrawn. Over the same period juvenile crime fell by 7%.
What it means: Juvenile crime is falling, but the crimes that are committed are increasingly serious: grave and especially grave offences make up half. Prosecutors are relying on raids, registration and inspections of venues.
Who benefits: Children and families, if prevention works before a teenager ends up in the statistics: 3,000 teenagers are on police registers, while more than 800,000 children need help, in the prosecutors' estimate. The statement does not say what measures to expect beyond raids and licence withdrawals.
