Riyadh, 25 October. The Saudi-led coalition said its air defences intercepted and destroyed 10 Houthi ballistic missiles fired at the kingdom's southern regions, Anadolu reported.
Earlier the coalition said it had intercepted a cruise missile heading for the city of Khamis Mushait. There were no reports of casualties or damage. A day earlier the Houthis claimed seven operations against Saudi Arabia, including strikes on Saudi Aramco facilities in Yanbu and the East-West oil pipeline.
What it means: The exchange of strikes between the Houthis and Saudi Arabia is continuing for a second day, and the number of missiles fired is growing.
Who benefits: The Houthis get to show their capabilities; Riyadh, to confirm its air defences work. The oil market is watching whether export infrastructure is hit.
Background: The Houthis control northern Yemen and have been at war with a Saudi-led coalition since 2015.
We have also reported that a Houthi ballistic missile was shot down over Riyadh.
