Astana, 26 October. Traffic has been fully closed on the section of Sherkhan Murtaza Street in Astana between Kerey and Zhanibek Khandar Street and Uly Dala Avenue from 26 October to 3 November for road surface repairs, the city administration said.
Temporary road signs and direction signs will be put up on the section under repair. The city administration asks drivers and pedestrians to plan their routes in advance. Repairs on Sherkhan Murtaza Street have been under way for some time, and earlier Aitmatov Street was partly closed and the routes of buses No. 17, 18 and 85 temporarily changed.
The closure is one of several restrictions in force in the capital on Monday. The summary of closed roads for 26 October, with an interactive map, also lists the construction of water supply, sewerage and storm drainage networks among the reasons for restrictions.
What it means: The section between Kerey and Zhanibek Khandar Street and Uly Dala Avenue is closed for nine days. Drivers will have to take parallel streets; the dates are given precisely, with no mention of a possible extension.
Who benefits: Local residents get a repaired road after 3 November. While the work goes on, the inconvenience falls on drivers and passengers who use this section.
Background: In autumn several road repairs and utility works are under way in Astana at once; a summary of closed streets with a map is published every day.
