Astana, 28 October. In the evening Akorda published the full text of the address "Kazakhstan's Current Tasks in a New Historical Cycle", as well as a video excerpt in which, according to Akorda's caption, the Head of State announced a rise in the minimum wage to 110,000 tenge.
This settles the question raised earlier in the day by the Telegram channel Astanovka, which claimed that on air the President had said 100,000 tenge while Akorda's text said 110,000. Akorda's official materials, both the full text and the captioned video excerpt, give 110,000 tenge. According to the text of the address, the rise takes effect on 1 January 2027 and will affect 1.8 million people, including more than 370,000 public sector workers.
During the evening Akorda continued to publish individual excerpts from the address as short videos: on medium-sized business, for which the government has been told to draw up a special development plan; on the three-year moratorium on inspections; on the "people's digital economy"; on a higher tax rate for owners of large fortunes; and on state assistance going only to those in genuine need.
What it means: The new minimum wage of 110,000 tenge is now confirmed by the official text of the address and Akorda's video. It will be finally set by the law on the 2027 national budget.
Who benefits: Workers on the minimum wage and public sector staff, who now know that their pay will rise to 110,000 tenge from January. Employers, who get a clear benchmark for planning wage bills.
Background: This annual address is the first under the new Constitution, which enshrined the tradition; between 1997 and 2025, 31 addresses to the nation were delivered in Kazakhstan.
We have also reported on our check of which minimum wage figure the President named.
