Astana, 17 October. Kazakh citizens who hand up to 100% of their pension savings to private asset managers keep the state guarantee on the contributions actually paid in, while bearing the investment risk themselves, the Labour Ministry's Committee for Regulation and Control in Social Protection said (Informburo, Kazakhstan Today).
In the committee's wording, "full responsibility for the voluntarily chosen investment risk" rests with the depositor (Kazakhstan Today). The state guarantees only the contributions paid in, while the risk of losing investment income lies with the depositor; the specific terms of transfer and the maximum size of the guarantee are set by pension legislation (Informburo).
Before choosing a management company, citizens are advised to study its investment strategy and possible risks (Informburo, Kazakhstan Today).
Background: New rules for transferring up to 100% of pension savings to private management took effect on 7 September 2026, Tengrinews and Zakon.kz reported (Tengrinews, Zakon.kz).
