Rozhin urges Kazakhstanis to become Kazakh-language volunteers

Well-known Kazakhstani blogger Maxim Rozhin has suggested that residents of the country become volunteers and help those who want to learn the Kazakh language, VRK News reports.

Maxim Rozhin called on everyone who cares about the problem of the Kazakh language to become its volunteers: native speakers, those who are trying to learn it, those who learned it long ago, and those who help others learn it.

“Let each of us become a mentor in this matter. Let us extend a helping hand to those who really want to master the language of Abai, Auezov, Magauin, Valikhanov, Baitursynov, Dulatov, Tlendiev. I invite everyone who cares to join this movement! Let us become volunteers (kind ones, oriented not towards aggression but towards help, not towards criticism but towards support) in promoting the Kazakh language!” the blogger said.

He expressed the wish that in the Year of the Volunteer Kazakhstanis unite around this problem,

“Let this become a civic initiative, a kind movement aimed at helping everyone who wants, at last, after 30 years of independence, to speak Kazakh! ‘Help learn Kazakh’ to your friend, colleague, neighbour, partner. To the one who is next to you and needs this help! Let us find the best practices, conversation clubs, circles, let us find the best teachers and philologists,” Maxim Rozhin wrote in his post on Facebook.

In his post the activist also published photographs of those who are already ready to take part in the campaign.

Social media users received the proposal with enthusiasm: some have already expressed a wish to learn, and some are already studying the state language. There are also those who are ready to offer their help.
