Astana, 2 November. “Avengers: Doomsday” will open in Kazakh cinemas provisionally on 7 January 2027, about 20 days after the world premiere on 18 December, while “Dune: Part Three” will open on 17 December, the Ministry of Culture and Information told Tengri Life in response to a request.
The ministry said it did not obstruct the release of the Avengers film: the distribution licence was issued as early as 7 October 2026. The licence has been on file since 7 October, yet the poster says 7 January — exactly three months later. According to the film’s distributor, Ascarcinema LLP, the release in CIS countries is provisionally planned for 7 January, but the matter is still under consideration. The date for “Dune” was given by its Kazakh distributor, SC Distribution LLP: 17 December, a day before the world launch.
The ministry added that premiere dates are set by rights holders and distributors, and the ministry does not interfere in their contractual and commercial relations. The question arose after the date 7 January appeared on ticket-selling sites, and some social media users noted that, because of the 20-day gap, plot details could be learned in advance and the wish to go to the cinema lost.
What it means: The Kazakh release date of the Avengers film is provisional and tied to all CIS countries; it is decided by the distributor, not the state, and there is no final decision yet, the ministry says. “Dune” opens here a day before the world launch.
Background: In Russia, Alexei Voronkov, head of the Association of Cinema Owners, said in September that the release of the Avengers film and “Dune” in Russian cinemas is not planned for December, January or March 2027.
