Astana, 3 November. In November 2026 Astana will host a series of events of the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA), including a meeting of the Executive Committee and of the Foundation Board, the Ministry of Tourism and Sport reported.
The exact dates and venue of the meetings are not given. The meetings will bring together representatives of the international anti-doping community, state bodies, sports organisations and national anti-doping bodies; the agenda, the statement says, usually covers implementing the World Anti-Doping Code, improving the regulatory framework, education and research programmes and making the fight against doping more effective.
The ministry linked the decision to the growth of cooperation with WADA: in October 2025 the agency’s president, Witold Bańka, visited Kazakhstan and Tokayev awarded him the Dostyk Order, second class; on 22 March 2026 Minister Yerbol Myrzabosynov and Bańka signed a memorandum of understanding on anti-doping education, prevention of violations, research and exchange of experience. For reference: the Foundation Board is WADA’s highest governing body, with representatives of the Olympic movement and public authorities; the Executive Committee runs the agency operationally and takes decisions in key areas.
What it means: Kazakhstan is hosting the governing bodies of the world anti-doping agency. When exactly they will meet, the ministry did not say.
Who benefits: Kazakhstan and its national anti-doping system: the ministry speaks of opportunities for dialogue with representatives of national organisations in the region.
Background: The ministry calls Witold Bańka’s visit in October 2025 the start of a new stage in Kazakhstan’s cooperation with WADA.
