Astana, 3 November. A single digital system for monitoring the storage and transport of vaccines, Health Minister Akmaral Alnazarova said at a government meeting, will make it possible to track temperature in real time at more than 3,500 sites and in transit in more than 800 vehicles.
The system is meant to monitor conditions at every stage of delivery, from the Single Distributor’s warehouses to medical organisations, and to flag a temperature deviation quickly. To do this storage sites will be fitted with sensors that send data automatically to a single digital platform, and vehicles with GPS trackers. A preliminary launch is planned for November 2026.
The headline of the statement says monitoring is already running online at 3,500 sites, but in the text the sensors are still to be installed and the launch is preliminary, set for November. The ministry called the project another stage in digitalising health care and quality control of medical products.
What it means: For now this is an announced project, not a working network: the coverage of 3,500 sites and 800 vehicles is named as the system’s capability, and the sensors and trackers still have to be installed.
Who benefits: Patients and medical organisations that need vaccines stored at the right temperature; the Single Distributor, whose warehouses will be connected. The cost of the system and who is building it are not stated.
Background: At the same government meeting the minister said that medicine registration has been cut to 15 working days and that prices fell for 799 products.
