Astana, 4 November, . Prices of cars assembled in Kazakhstan have fallen by about 11% over the year and will not rise in the near future, industry and construction minister Yersaiyn Nagaspayev said at a press conference in the Government.

“I see a trend of prices falling,” the minister said. In November and December, he reminded, dealers traditionally discount cars of the outgoing model year. In 2026 Kazakhstan plans to produce 191,000 cars against 171,000 a year earlier. Two large plants have not yet reached design capacity: the Kia plant in Kostanay region is designed for 70,000 cars a year and the multi-brand plant for Chinese makes in Almaty for 120,000.

Asked whether locally assembled LiXiang, BYD and Changan cars would differ in quality from imported ones, the minister said this was the manufacturers’ responsibility and expressed confidence that Allur and Astana Motors would not lower quality.

What it means: Local assembly is growing by 20,000 cars a year, and the minister is promising buyers that prices will go down, not up.

Who benefits: Buyers of Kazakh-assembled cars and the plants that need to load idle capacity; the minister did not specify which models and regions saw prices fall.

Background: According to Nagaspayev, the Kia plant in Kostanay and the multi-brand plant in Almaty are still working below design capacity.
