Astana, 16 October. More than 200 recipients of social benefits have declared that they no longer need the payments and are giving them up after receiving text-message alerts, and the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection has presented a draft service for voluntarily giving up benefits in eGov Mobile, the government press service said (Kazakhstan Today, BES.media).
According to the government, the service will let well-off recipients give up payments online without visiting a government office (Kazakhstan Today). The figures were presented at a meeting on the digital transformation of labour and social protection chaired by Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov; he ordered that the family welfare calculator be filled in automatically from state information systems and that second-tier banks be connected to the Digital Family Map faster (Kazakhstan Today, BES.media). "Every family that finds itself in a difficult situation will continue to receive the support it needs in full," Bektenov said (Kazakhstan Today).
According to the ministry, for well-off citizens the changes will affect 14 of the 36 types of payments, while the existing rules will remain for the other 22; local authorities and the ministry continue to re-check households placed in the high-welfare category (BES.media). The Digital Family Map combines data from more than 30 state information systems on over 20 million citizens in 6.2 million households (BES.media).
Background: This follows the story of the new method for assessing family welfare, which from 1 January 2027 will divide households into five categories, with restrictions for the two best-off. According to the ministry, 480,355 families in need improved their living conditions in 2025, and since the start of 2026 another 464,158 families have moved into a higher welfare category (BES.media). No launch date for the eGov Mobile service has been given.
