Astana, 2 November. Annual inflation in Kazakhstan in October 2026 was 9.2% against 9.3% in September, and monthly inflation 0.5% against 0.6%, the Bureau of National Statistics reported.

Over the year food prices rose by 7.6%, non-food goods by 10.4% and paid services by 10.3%. A year ago, in October 2025, annual inflation was 12.6%, and in October 2024 it was 8.5%, so the figure is 3.4 percentage points below last year’s, Kazinform notes. The lowest regional figure was recorded in the Aktobe region: 7.5%. Annual inflation fell by 0.1 of a point, while cucumbers became 34.4% cheaper over the year.

Over the month the biggest price falls were for grapes (10.0%), onions (9.8%), granulated sugar (9.5%), cauliflower (9.0%), apples (6.2%) and broccoli (4.6%), and among non-food goods blenders (6.7%), modems and routers (4.2%) and microwave ovens (2.4%), the statistics bureau listed. Over the year, besides cucumbers, bananas (12.4%), lemons (11.1%) and garlic (10.2%) became cheaper, and among industrial goods, according to the bureau’s data, domestically assembled cars (17.3%) and electric drills and screwdrivers (10.5%). Some publications put the slowdown in monthly inflation at one point; according to the bureau, it was 0.1 of a percentage point.

What it means: The monthly slowdown is modest, 0.1 of a point, but over a year inflation has fallen from 12.6% to 9.2%. Vegetables, fruit and household appliances are mostly getting cheaper, while non-food goods and paid services are rising fastest over the year.

Background: In his Address Tokayev called inflation a “silent enemy”, and Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov, as Ulysmedia recalls, ordered regional akimats to report weekly on food prices. The bureau tracks 537 items of goods and services.
