Shenzhen, November 8. Olympic champion Mikhail Shaidorov finished fifth at the third stage of the Grand Prix figure skating series in Shenzhen, China, with 263.49 points across two programmes, the Kazakhstan National Olympic Committee said.
In the free skate the Kazakh skater scored 168.62. Japan’s Kao Miura won with 293.25, of which 190.35 came from the free skate, the results show. Second and third places went to skaters competing under a neutral status: Vladislav Dikidzhi scored 282.44 and Yevgeny Semenenko 281.62, the final summary says.
For Shaidorov this is the second stage of the season’s series. At the first, in Angers, France, he finished tenth with 206.55. No points are awarded for tenth place, and each skater can compete in a maximum of two stages, so the Kazakh skater does not qualify for the series final in Chongqing in December, it was explained before the start in China. Even a win in Shenzhen would have brought him only 15 points, not enough for the top six.
Shaidorov began the season in September at the Ondrej Nepela Memorial in Bratislava, where he won bronze with 272.75 and set a personal best in the short programme, 95.98.
What it means: Shaidorov ended the China stage fifth, while his fight for the series final had closed already in France. His main goal of the season is the Four Continents Championships, which Kazakhstan hosts for the first time, in Almaty on February 9–14, 2027; Shaidorov won the event in 2025.
What we know now: The next stage of the series, the fourth, takes place on November 13–15 in Everett in the United States, the results report recalls; Shaidorov will not compete there because he has already used his two stages.
Background: The International Skating Union (ISU) Grand Prix is a series of stages in different countries, and the six best in each discipline reach the final. Shaidorov is an Olympic champion and won the Four Continents Championships in 2025.
