Atyrau, 15 October. Chairman of the Management Board of KazMunayGas Askhat Khasenov, on a working trip to Atyrau Region, visited the Atyrau oil refinery and held a meeting on the plant's environmental performance.

In the first nine months of 2026 the refinery processed 4.17 million tonnes of feedstock. The refining depth was 91.1% and the yield of light petroleum products 80.3%.

The plant is implementing an environmental efficiency programme of 18 measures with an estimated cost of about 174 billion tenge. The planned works include replacing burners on process furnaces, upgrading the gas fractionation unit and building a new pumping station, a flare gas recovery unit and a vapour recovery unit at the delayed coking unit.

Data from the environmental monitoring stations is sent every hour to Kazhydromet and then to the AIR KZ platform; since 8 October it has also been published on the refinery's official website. The monitoring stations are to be modernised by the end of the year. Following the meeting, Khasenov instructed the plant's management to strictly observe the deadlines of the environmental projects and to continue ensuring stable and safe operation.
