The monetary component of the Nobel Prize in each category this year, as last year, will be 10 million kronor ($1.19 million). VRK News reports this, citing TASS.
“In 2020 the Nobel Prize was raised from 9 million Swedish kronor to 10 million in each category. The work done in recent years to strengthen the financial position of the Nobel Foundation has made it possible to increase the monetary component. The amount of the 2021 prize was set by the board of the Nobel Foundation at 10 million Swedish kronor for each prize category,” the foundation's press release says.
The market value of the Nobel Foundation's total invested capital at the end of 2020 was 5.176 billion Swedish kronor (more than $616.19 million). Excluding the value of the property owned by the foundation, the investment capital amounts to 4.882 billion Swedish kronor (more than $581.19 million). During 2020 the return on investment capital was 8.5%.
