Astana, November 6. The Kazakhstan Stock Exchange (KASE) and Crystal Intelligence have signed a memorandum of cooperation in education, blockchain analytics and financial security, the exchange said.

The signing opened the Market Awareness Day workshop “KASE and the private sector: digital assets on a regulated market”, held at the exchange. Under the memorandum the sides will develop training courses, webinars and master classes on the capital market, blockchain technology and countering money laundering and terrorist financing. They will prepare practical guides, analytical reviews and teaching cases based on KASE Academy modules and Crystal Intelligence solutions and hold educational sessions for investors, issuers and professional market participants.

Representatives of banks, brokers and other market participants gathered at the workshop. KASE described its new infrastructure for digital assets: how instruments are admitted to trading and what requirements apply to participants. Crystal Intelligence experts explained how the crypto market works from the inside, from banks and payment systems to exchanges, wallets and blockchain, and how to spot manipulation, check counterparties and counter money laundering. The day ended with a discussion of how the traditional financial market and the digital asset market will develop together in Kazakhstan.

What it means: The exchange links trading in digital assets with training market participants and checking counterparties. The first step was the workshop; the memorandum names no deadlines, programme volumes or cost.

Who benefits: According to KASE, banks, brokers, issuers and investors: they will receive teaching materials and a risk analysis. For the exchange itself the memorandum helps explain the new infrastructure for digital assets to participants.

Background: Digital assets are records on a blockchain that can be owned and traded: cryptocurrencies and other tokens. A regulated market is trading under an exchange’s rules and state supervision, as opposed to exchange directly between people. Blockchain analytics is the analysis of a blockchain’s open records to trace the movement of funds and find suspicious transactions; counterparty checks and the fight against money laundering rest on it.
