Moscow, November 7. Russia has named the members of its delegation to the three-way talks with the US and Ukraine in Abu Dhabi, to be held on Tuesday and Wednesday, November 10 and 11: it will be led by presidential aide Vladimir Medinsky, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said, Russian media report.
Besides Medinsky the delegation includes Deputy Foreign Ministers Sergei Ryabkov and Mikhail Galuzin, General Staff Main Directorate chief Igor Kostyukov and Yuri Zhigarlovsky, deputy head of the General Staff’s Main Operations Directorate, Peskov said. According to a Ukrainian outlet, Ryabkov goes to the talks for the first time, while Galuzin and Kostyukov took part in earlier rounds, the outlet writes. Presidential aide Yuri Ushakov, who attended Vladimir Putin’s meeting with the permanent members of the Security Council, will not take direct part in the talks and will oversee them as foreign-policy aide, Peskov said.
The talks will be in a three-way format, Russia, the US and Ukraine with US mediation; European countries are not included, Peskov said on November 3. US special envoy Steve Witkoff named the dates on November 2, and on November 3 Peskov confirmed the Russian delegation’s participation and added that Putin would approve its final composition, Russian press reports say. The agenda, according to Russian press reports, covers security, de-escalation and humanitarian initiatives, including mutual security guarantees for Russia and Ukraine.
These will be the first talks of this kind since February, Ukrainian media note: the last US-mediated talks took place before the US and Israel began a war against Iran, the outlet writes.
